Please note that the function of the profiles is not to make the controller work in the game (as that is accomplished by using the game's own control configuration screens). Instead they merely allow you to adjust the button configuration of your controller externally to the game.
Does anyone know how to use the profile selector on the x52 in xplane 11 so I can have 3 different sets of buttons bound? In the joystick menu it just lets me use each of the profiles as a button and that button is held until you spin the dial to a different profile then that button gets held.
Saitek X 52 Profiles
I have the saitek X52 (not the pro, the silver one) and when i map the roll -X +X axis and pitch -Y+Y axis , i dont get the white slider bar under each of the assigments in the control configuration menu. and when i fly the X , Y axis is very sticky, doesnt return to center when i remove my hand from the joystick.
Below the title of the joystick, let's enter the name of the profile that will be used later. Be careful, a profile can be selected to be used with any aircraft, it is not linked to a specific one. We can create as many profiles as we want to adapt the joystick to a specific type of plane (single engine, commercial jet, ...).
Since the acquisition of Saitek in September 2016, Logitech has been providing both Driver and ST programming software support for the X52 and X52 Pro HOTAS devices. Over the years, users have reported issues and stability problems regarding the use of [Logitech's] ST programming software. The old drivers and ST programming software from Saitek are still available at ftp.saitek.com (freely accessible through most ftp clients) and they still work properly today on modern operating systems, such as Windows 10.
Another tip, disable Button #1 and use the secondary Button of button #1 (ie. Button #15) The primary button #1 is a dual switch. The initial Button #1 can then be remaped to reveal target when in the helicopter. This is why I seperated the two profiles into RED and BLUE, as Reveal and Next Target functions conflict when mapped to the joystick buttons.
Most people here don't seem to use joysticks at all. The bigger issue may be that KSP doesn't use profiles. Someone would need to send you their entire settings.cfg. If they sent chunks, the effort on your end would be similar to setting it up yourself.
The configuration is the tricky part of this whole setup. It is not really a hard task, just a time consuming one. But in a good way, of course. With there being so many buttons and options with the flight system, you can customize each game on how you can most comfortably control the simulation. Each game will be set up differently, as some are more complex and some are simpler. I tend to keep the main controls the same in each game, to be familiar but for more complex games, I type up my own list of controls and their buttons, for a quick reference sheet. For Microsoft Flight Simulator X, I made myself a Flight Log and Check Sheet that I keep with me for my flights, for all the different aircraft that I fly on a regular basis. One nice feature of the X52 Pro, is profiles. With the SST programing software included with the drivers, you can set up "Profiles" for different games and users. The profiles allow you to map the movements of the control system to buttons on a keyboard. Take for instance, dropping flares in a combat simulator. If the key set in the game is "W", you can have the SST software map that key to a button on the joystick. This will tell the computer you are pressing the "W" every time you hit that button mapped and your flares will drop. To download a small collection of profiles to get you started head on over to Saitek's Website.
